Our Teddy Bear Ride supporters are very near and dear to our hearts. Afterall, this annual event is the Center’s longest standing fundraiser!
The Teddy Bear Ride generates much needed funds and lovable teddy bears that are given to children visiting the Advocacy Center. The funds generated are used to provide hope and healing to children victimized by abuse and neglect here in Collin County. Over the years this special event has grown leaps and bounds as this pack of supporters is fiercely loyal and generous.
During the height of the pandemic, we saw a 28% increase in Family Advocacy and Support Services, a program at the center which meets the short and long-term needs of children and their non-offending caregivers. This increase underscored the fact that our clients had more critical needs than ever before. We also saw a 51% increase in the need for crisis intervention due to suicidal ideation. There is no doubt that the stress and isolation brought on by the pandemic had a serious impact on the mental health of the children we serve, who have already been through so much.
Stay tuned to learn how you can get involved in this special event – further event details coming soon.
