BACK TO SCHOOL FAIR TO PROVIDE SUPPLIES AND RESOURCES FOR CHILDREN VICTIMIZED BY CHILD ABUSE IN COLLIN COUNTY

Plano, TX, August 5, 2020 – In partnership with local corporations and community members, Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County is prepared to provide school supplies and needed items for 1,000 children at their Back to School Fair – Drive-Thru Edition on Saturday, August 8, 2020 from 8:00 to 11:00 AM.

Each year, the Back to School Fair equips hundreds of children who are clients of Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County or Child Protective Services for the new school year by providing them with brand new backpacks and school supplies. The annual event takes place at the Center and in years past has included haircuts for children, carnival games, and food and refreshments for children and their families. In response to COVID-19, the Center has shifted gears to make this year’s fair a drive-thru edition.

“Just a few short months ago, COVID-19 caused a dramatic effect on the end of the school year for the children of our community. While the year ahead may be clouded with uncertainty, we do know one thing for sure. No matter what type of classroom setting children will be presented with come fall, they are very much in need of supplies and resources to set them up for a successful year of learning, and this year, the need is greater than ever before. We wouldn’t be able to continue this endeavor during this pandemic without the support of donors and corporate sponsors from our community. We are incredibly grateful for them,” said Jamie Ginden, Community Relations Director.

A single $30 donation buys schools supplies for one child for the annual Back to School Fair. Donate by August 7th to make sure no child who has experienced abuse or neglect goes back to school unprepared. For more information, or to donate, visit www.caccollincounty.org/backtoschool.
