In child abuse cases, law enforcement or Child Protective Services may request that our staff conduct a forensic interview with the child. Conducted by specially trained interviewers employed by the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County, such interviews are child-sensitive, developmentally-appropriate and legally-defensible. Prior to the inception of Children’s Advocacy Centers, abused children had to repeat the details of their victimization over and over again to various investigative agencies, compounding their initial trauma. Forensic interviews limit trauma to child victims by minimizing the number of times these children must share their stories.
The Center is a private, non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization and is not an investigative agency or an arm of law enforcement or CPS. As such, we cannot comment on the status of criminal cases. If you are a member of the media and need information about a particular case or an ongoing criminal investigation, please contact the appropriate law enforcement or CPS public information officer.
