Our goal is to raise awareness throughout the community about the importance of preventing, recognizing, and reporting child abuse. It takes all of us working together to prevent abuse.

PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN & TEENS

The Kids Count Players

The Kids Count Players is a volunteer puppet troupe and a project of the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County, created for children and dedicated to keeping them safe. These dynamic volunteers educate students about personal safety, boundaries, private touches, and the difference between surprises and secrets. The program provides children with critical information to help them stay safe from abuse.

Kindergarten-2nd Grade

Online Conduct

This course will educate teens on how to act as thoughtful media creators and consumers in order to build supportive online communities. Discussion will include protecting personal information, balancing social media use in everyday life, and developing positive relationships with peers online and in person.

6th-12th Grade

PROGRAMS FOR CAREGIVERS

Parenting The Digital Generation

This course informs parents and caregivers on how to protect children as they navigate the digital world. The program covers the four biggest risks for children online and the conversations you need to be having with them. Recommendations will be given on how you may utilize technology to better protect your children.

This workshop seeks to empower parents and caregivers in keeping their children better protected from abuse. The training will discuss the conversations you should be having with your children, questions you should be considering to make their environments safer, and common behaviors in offenders.

PROGRAMS FOR CHILD-SERVING PROFESSIONALS

Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse

This workshop teaches adults how to recognize the signs and symptoms of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and neglect. Participants will learn facts about child abuse, how to recognize the physical and behavioral signs of the varying forms of abuse, as well as important details of how to report suspected abuse. We will discuss risk factors, effects of abuse, how to handle disclosures, and mandated reporting laws.

Stewards of Children

Stewards of Children is a child sexual abuse prevention curriculum that focuses on educating adults, as ultimately it is our responsibility to keep children safe. The material is presented in a way that is empowering and encouraging.
