BACK-TO-SCHOOL FAIR SUPPLIES SUCCESS TO OVER 500 CHILDREN IN COLLIN COUNTY

In partnership with local corporations and community members, the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County provided school supplies, and needed items for more than 500 children at the 2017 Back-to-School Fair.

Plano, TX, August 4, 2017 – Each year, the Children’s Advocacy Center partners with local corporations and community members to host the annual Back-to-School Fair. The Back-To-School Fair is a fun-filled evening that equips children who are current clients of the Children’s Advocacy Center for the new school year by providing them with brand new backpacks, shoes, haircuts, and school supplies.

This year’s event provided supplies to more than 500 students and included: an appearance by the reigning Ms. Texas, Margana Wood; food provided by Cane’s Chicken, Taverna Rossa, Big Apple Café, Pop Star Popsicles and Cinemark; Haircuts provided by JCPenney Instyle; wellness checks by UT Southwestern; vision checks by North Texas Blindness Prevention; games provided by Gamepad MVPs; hand-made balloon animals from Plano School Resource Officer, Art Parker; and new shoes provided by Collin County Foster Friends.

“Our Annual Back to School Fair brings a sense of normalcy back to children that have been affected by child abuse in Collin County. These kids are just like all kids—they want to have a new backpack, the right school supplies, new shoes, and a fresh haircut before they start school. Because of abuse, families may be unable to provide these Back to School basics for them”, said CACCC Director of Family Advocacy and Support Services, Erica Stanley. “We are thrilled to have the support of our community to fulfill this essential need for all the children in need that we work with here at Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County.”
